Once the CONTENTdm PowerPoint Plug-in is installed and you have saved My Favorites on a CONTENTdm server, the steps below will help you use the PowerPoint Pug-in.

1. When the PowerPoint Plug-in is opened, an import wizard dialog box appears.

2. Type the URL of the CONTENTdm Server into the combo box (a combo box contains both an editable field and a pull down list) presented in the import wizard screen. The URL may be a numerical IP address or text.

To obtain the server URL, contact your CONTENTdm Server Administrator or follow the steps below:

1. Open your Web browser to a collection where you have created a My Favorites page.

2. Click the link My Favorites from the top navigation bar. This opens the My Favorites page.

4. The address bar at the top of your web browser will read something like this:
   http://content.lib.utah.edu/cgi-bin/lightbox.exe

5. Delete all text after .edu. This is the URL of your Server: http://content.lib.utah.edu.

If the Web browser address bar is not apparent, click the Web browser View menu from the item display page and select Address Bar. The Web address bar will display a URL that you must edit, as described in steps 4 and 5 above.

After locating and entering the Server URL in the import wizard:

1. Click Next.

2. A summary screen lists the total number of items stored in My Favorites for the collections that are located at the specified URL.

3. Uncheck the check boxes below the summary information to limit the amount of data imported with your Favorites. By default, items in My Favorites will be imported with their titles and searchable metadata fields.
4. Click Finish. Each item and its metadata will be imported into a separate slide.

Click Advanced to edit metadata or items to import into PowerPoint. For more information on using the advanced features, see Choosing Items or Choosing Metadata.

5. Edit or delete the items using PowerPoint.

6. To import My Favorites from another CONTENTdm Server, simply click on the CONTENTdm button in the PowerPoint toolbar and enter another server URL.
