Overview, Requirements and Installation

To use the CONTENTdm PowerPoint Plug-in you will need to:

  • Install the PowerPoint Plug-in on your PC.

  • Create or locate existing My Favorites on any CONTENTdm server Version 3.3 or higher.

  • Open PowerPoint and the PowerPoint Plug-in.

  • Enter the server URL(s) where My Favorites files are located.

  • My Favorites are added to PowerPoint.

  • Edit slides in PowerPoint and save your presentation.

This document will provide you with the information needed to perform the steps listed above and begin using the PowerPoint Plug-in.

Requirements

  • System requirements: Windows NT Workstation, 2000 Professional, or XP with Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, 2002, or 2003. PowerPoint 97 is not supported.

  • CONTENTdm PowerPoint Plug-in recognizes items that you have saved to My Favorites on any CONTENTdm Server Version 3.3 or higher.

  • Favorites must be saved using the CONTENTdm Search Client running in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (or greater). Netscape browsers are not supported.

  • Cookies must be enabled on your computer in order to create My Favorites.

  • The CONTENTdm PowerPoint Plug-in supports JPEG, GIF, and BMP files only. Audio, video, MrSID, JPEG2000, and PDF files are not supported.

Installation

  1. Run the PowerPoint Plug-in install executable located on the CONTENTdm CD-ROM. The Plug-in may also be downloaded from the User Support Center. Click on the downloaded file to install the PowerPoint Plug-in.

  2. Follow the installation directions on screen.
