Saving and Sharing My Favorites
My Favorites can be saved as an HTML page and shared in course lectures, on Web sites, or by e-mail. As long as the CONTENTdm Server is accessible to the recipient, the items contained on an HTML page may be viewed by simply clicking on the thumbnails.
Note: Items in My Favorites are only links to items in collections on a CONTENTdm server. My Favorites does not contain or save the images themselves.
To save My Favorites as HTML:
From the My Favorites page, scroll down to the Save as HTML section.
Type a name for your Favorites in the text box (if you do not enter a name the file will be saved with the default name "My Favorites"). Click Create. A new Web page opens.

From the File menu in the Web browser toolbar, click Save As….

Choose Web Page, HTML only as the file type and select a location to save the file. In this way you may create several different sets of Favorites pages and save them locally.

To add or remove items from an HTML page you have saved, or to replace existing Favorites with those from an HTML page, follow the steps below.
To replace existing Favorites:
To change your HTML Favorites page or save someone else’s HTML Favorites Web page as your own, you must replace your existing My Favorites with the HTML page. To do this:
Open the HTML page.
Click the Make Favorites button at the bottom of the page. Any existing items you have saved in My Favorites will be overwritten and replaced with the current page. Note: This process simply overwrites one cookie and replaces it with another. It does not overwrite images in the collection.
Clicking Make Favorites stores all of the items shown on the page in CONTENTdm Favorites for the creator or the recipient (provided the CONTENTdm Server is accessible to the recipient). Items can be compared, moved, or removed using the tools on the CONTENTdm My Favorites page.
Maintaining Multiple My Favorites Files
One powerful use of the Save as HTML feature of My Favorites is the ability to maintain multiple pages of Favorites to suit your particular needs.
Create and save any number of HTML files, giving them each separate file names.
To work with any of the saved files, double-click the file to open the chosen HTML page.
To make changes to the contents (add new items, remove items, or reorder), click the Make Favorites button to restore these items as your current My Favorites on the Server, make the necessary changes, and then save the resulting file.
