Choose the type of Compound Object to Create
CONTENTdm supports the following objects types: monographs (documents with hierarchy), picture cubes, post cards, and simple documents.
Monograph allows you to retain the hierarchical structure of documents, including sections, chapters, and pages.
Picture Cube lets you select up to six images to link together views of a three-dimensional object.
Post Card holds both the front and back images of two-sided items, such as tickets, flyers, and baseball cards.
Document lets you create multiple sequential pages of a report, journal, photo album, or related image sets.
The steps below outline choosing the template for the compound object you want to createMonographs, Picture Cubes, Post Cards, or Documents. If you are creating an especially complex monograph or document, be sure to allow an appropriate amount of time to complete it. Incomplete compound objects cannot be saved or retrieved for later additions, instead they must be uploaded to the Collection Administration queue before ending the current session. Collection Administrators can then add or edit compound object metadata.
After selecting New from the Compound Object Creator toolbar, a list of available compound object templates will be displayed.

Click on the type of object you wish to create: Monograph, Picture Cube, Post Card, or Document.
A list of collections that are available on the server will appear. You must select the collection that contains all the items that will comprise your document, post card, monograph, or picture cube. (Note: All items you want to include in your compound object must reside in the same collection.)
In the example below, we have chosen to create a Document as our compound object, using items in the collection called "UW Images".

Click Create.

You may now begin adding items to your document, post card, monograph, or picture cube. Refer to Adding Items to a Document or Adding Items to a Post Card for information on adding items to these types of templates.
See Picture Cube for more information on making this type of compound. Refer to Monograph for information on building a compound object that uses a hierarchical structure.
