Collection Descriptions

A description of the collection can be created by clicking View/edit collection description from the Collection Administration page. Collection descriptions can be viewed in the Acquisition Station projects that connect to that collection. Collection descriptions are helpful for Acquisition Station users who work with multiple projects and collections.

In CONTENTdm 3.5 the maximum number of characters allowed in the collection description text box is 1,859. In CONTENTdm 3.5.1 or greater, the maximum number of characters allowed in the collection description text box is 10,000.

Collection Description

Once a collection description has been entered in the text box shown above, the information is accessible within any project that connects to that collection. To view a collection description from within an Acquisition Station project (if a description has been entered):

  1. From the Administration menu, click About Collection.

  2. The About Collection dialog box opens displaying the collection description entered by the Collection Administrator. The collection name and Server URL are automatically displayed.

  3. Click OK to close the dialog box.
