Copying Project Settings
You can save new project set-up time by copying project settings within your Acquisition Station, importing project settings from other users, or exporting your project settings for other users. All projects created by copying, importing, or exporting will be associated with the same collection as the original project. Copying, importing, or exporting project setting replicates project settings only. It does not copy items in projects.
The project settings that are replicated are limited to settings established locally in your Acquisition Station:
- Image rights options, such as banding, branding, and watermarking
- Upload method, such as FTP or shared directory (does not include User Name and Password)
- Upload destination
- Thumbnail image display preferences in the Acquisition Station Query window
- Template Creator settings
To reuse project settings within the same Acquisition Station, copy your project template.
To share project settings with another Acquisition Station, export your project template.
To implement the settings from another Acquisition Station, import the project template.
To copy project settings:
Open the project containing settings you wish to copy. From the File menu, select Copy Project.

Type a name in the resulting text box as you would for any new project. Click OK.
A dialog box confirms that the project settings have been copied. Click OK. The project is ready to use.
To open the new project, click Open Project from the File menu. Select the new project name from the list.
To export project settings:
Open the project containing settings you wish to export. From the File menu, select Export Project.
A dialog box opens. Browse to the location where the project settings should be saved, such as a shared network drive or floppy disk drive. Click OK. The dialog box closes.
The exported folder will have the same name as your project. The project settings folder can now be shared with other users who must import the project settings in order to use them.
To import project settings:
You must have access to another user's exported settings either on a shared network drive, or saved to you local machine.
From the Acquisition Station File menu, click Import Project. A dialog box opens.
Browse to the location where the project settings folder has been saved. The folder will have the same name as the original project. In the example below the project is called sample.
Double-click to open the folder. The icons folder and a .prj file will be displayed.

Highlight the .prj file and click Open at the bottom of the dialog box.
The dialog box closes and the new project and project settings have been imported into your Acquisition Station.
To begin using the project, click Open Project from the File menu. The existing project dialog box opens.
To open the new project, click the name. (For security reasons, imported projects do not import the existing User Names and Passwords. A message may indicate that you are not logged in to the Server. Click OK if this message is displayed. The login screen appears. Enter your User Name and Password and click OK. The new project will open.)
