Managing Archival or Full Resolution Images
When working with archival or full resolution images CONTENTdm will keep track of three versions of your images: 1) full resolution, 2) display, and 3) thumbnail. The thumbnail and display images reside on the server. The full resolution image can reside on the server or be stored offline depending on organizational policies and the process established by the Collection Administrator. First, ensure that the collection is enabled to support full resolution images. Collection Administrators can enable full resolution using the Full Resolution Manager accessible from the Collection Administrator console. For more information about the Full Resolution Manager and establishing your settings, see the tutorial Archiving Full Resolution Images. Next, prepare a staging location on your computer or local network. Then add images to your project, individually or in batches. As you add full resolution images, CONTENTdm automatically generates display images or you can import your own custom display images. If you choose to have CONTENTdm generate your display images, you can refine the quality and legibility of the display images using image optimization.
