Importing a Batch of Files

Tip: When importing items that have metadata in common, read Using the Template Creator before importing a batch of items. By using the Template Creator you can replicate descriptive or administrative metadata for a batch of items.

To import full resolution (archival quality) images, see Importing Full Resolution Images.

To import a batch of files:

  1. Click batch add button Batch Add.

  2. Select Import files from a directory. Click Next.

    To import image files and tab delimited text, refer to Importing Data from Another Database.

  3. Click Browse to locate your files. Click on the directory name. The directory contents must appear in the right pane of the dialog box. Click OK. Click Next.

  4. The Finish dialog opens. Click Finish to add the item to the project or click Advanced to open the Template Creator to add metadata text to all items when they are imported to the project.

  5. The files will be added to your project.

  7. Edit or enter data directly into the spreadsheet by clicking on any field. Double-click on the item icon to open the Media Editor.

Project additions, updates, and deletions are automatically saved when you exit the project.
